Even though it may seem counter intuitive, giving is saving. When you give something away to an organization that can distribute items to someone else in need, you save money in two different ways.
The first way you will save money is in your taxes. This is no secret, everyone knows about tax benefits but they forget to calculate the significance of the savings. If you are in a tax bracket of around 25% you can save $25 for every $100 you give away. The savings can really add up if you have a whole bundle of clothes, an old dining room table, a working television, and an ugly microwave that you do not need any more.
